Who We Work With

“Most people thinking about suicide don’t want to die, they want the pain to stop, recognising the signs that someone is thinking about suicide is critical as is the ability to listen and to support that person away from wanting to take their own life”
Fiona Aldred, Chief Executive of The National Centre for Suicide Prevention Education and Training (NCSPET)
- 1 in 20 people are having thoughts of suicide at any one time – this could be someone at work or in your social circle
- When someone takes their own life, the effect ripples out to 135 other people – causing anxiety, distress, guilt and even depression
- The impact of a worker taking their own life damages morale within an organisation and carries significant reputational risk
- For front line staff, coping with customers exhibiting suicide behaviour can severely undermine their ability to perform their duties
Why assurance is important:
- Quality Assurance: Rigorous evaluation by recognised bodies ensures the content is accurate, effective, and aligned with current best practices in suicide prevention
- Evidence-Based Content: Accredited education programmes are grounded in evidence-based research and validated methodologies
- Professional Credibility: An accredited course provides a certification that is recognised and respected across the public and private sector
- Increased Trust: Employers, clients, and colleagues are more likely to trust expertise when it comes from an accredited source
- Consistency and Reliability: Accreditation guarantees consistent, high-quality training.

SFA educational material has been developed in partnership with leading educational and mental health centres.
All education programmes our conducted by qualified and experienced suicide prevention tutors. They are available to adults from all walks of life providing they are over the age of 18.
These education programmes are designed as a first intervention when someone is contemplating suicide. They are not a substitute for long term mental health support.
